Presentation: Mid-Year Labor & Employment Law Update

Welcome to our first 2022 legal update installment! (We’ll have a comprehensive legal update in the Fall.)  With new laws from the Oregon legislature, shifting safety rules, changes to arbitration enforcement and more, it’s time to catch up on the ever-shifting landscape of employment law. Current Oregon and federal legal updates, as well as key court decisions since our last COSHRM update (in fall of 2021) will be reviewed.

COSHRM will still offer a full 2022 legal round up in the fall. For now, join us to make sure you’re in compliance and up-to-date on the latest legal changes and how they impact HR.

Speaker: Kurt Barker, Best Best & Krieger LLP*
A partner at Best Best & Krieger, Kurt serves as head of the firm’s Bend-based Employment Law department. He is the current Legislative Affairs Chair of COSHRM (and a past President of its board); he also serves on the boards of the Central Oregon Employers Council and Volunteers in Medicine. Kurt has been representing employers in all aspects of the employment relationship for 21 years, including counseling regarding terminations and medical issues, drafting handbooks and contracts, conducting anti-harassment and other trainings, helping employers avoid claims, and defending them before agencies and in state and federal courts. Since 2012, peers repeatedly have selected Kurt for listing in Best Lawyers in America for his work in Management-side Employment Law and Labor and Employment Litigation. www.bbklaw.com
